Why get married in the Bitterroot Valley?
December 8, 2014
If you're interested in planning a wedding in Montana, you can find anything you need in Western Montana's Bitterroot Valley.
#1. We've got ALL the vendors to service the wedding of your dreams. Indoor & outdoor venues for any style of wedding, full service caterers, talented florists, professional wedding planners, photographers, formal wear options, DJs, musicians, and accommodations galore in all price ranges. Pretty much, if you've seen something you just have to have at your wedding, the Bitterroot Valley and our association members can provide it.
#2. Breathtaking mountain views! Often the Bitterroot mountains keep their snow capped peaks throughout June, and are incredibly stunning. The mountain range starts in Lolo and runs the entire length of the Valley. So no matter where your wedding takes place in the Valley, the mountains will provide a great backdrop.
#3. A river runs through it. Literally. They even made a movie about it (remember that one, featuring Tom Skeritt and Brad Pitt?) Although that movie claims it takes place in Missoula & Lolo, the scenes are from all over western Montana (including the Bitterroot Valley). The Bitterroot River is one of those clear mountain rivers where you can see all the way to the bottom no matter what the depth. Fishing, floating, rafting, swimming and other water activities are welcome!
#4. Montana lifestyle. Did you know that the Bitterroot Valley's town of Stevensville was the first settlement in all of Montana? Founded in 1841, that's where our association's "home base" is located. And then there are towns like Darby, who maintain a downtown that resembles a true "wild west" town. Working cattle ranches and logging was a way of life for many years in our Valley, and now we're growing into a great tourism location as well. If you choose to immerse yourself into the lifestyle, you can truly step back in time! We offer rustic lodges and accommodations, or you can stay at one of the nicest resorts in the United States. For fun, you could head to the natural hot springs in the woods, or you can go to a local hot springs resort. The choice is yours!
#5. Amenities. We're close to Missoula and the airport, which means although you might be enjoying the "wild west" experience, you're never far from the luxuries you might expect at home. Shopping malls and high end boutiques abound, as well as plenty of restaurant and bar options for your guests.
#6. Weather. In the summer, nothing compares to western Montana's weather. The Bitterroot Valley typically enjoys hot temperatures and blue skies from late June to mid September. Pair that with lush grassland pastures, beautiful rivers, snow capped peaks as a background, and you can't go wrong. For cooler temperatures (but not yet COLD. . .usually!), consider hosting your wedding in late May or October. As residents of the valley, we agree that winters in Montana can be harsh, but often, that makes for the most stunning scenery. As a winter wedding location, the Bitterroot Valley has plenty of indoor venues to keep you toasty! The ground is typically snow or frost covered throughout the entire winter, with frequent blue skies, and that constantly stunning mountain view.
